Softball Australia has announced an 18-player Aussie Spirit squad for a high-performance tour of Japan from September 25 to October 1, 2026.

The tour is part of Australia’s preparations for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027, which will be hosted in Redcliffe, Queensland, near Brisbane.

Australian Players to Face Japanese Clubs

During the tour, the Australian squad will train and play against several leading Japanese clubs, including SGH, NSK, Shionogi, Denso and Toyota Industries.

Softball Australia said the tour will provide players with valuable international experience while helping coaches assess their performances ahead of future national team selections.

Aussie Spirit head coach Kerrie Porter said competing against strong opposition in Japan would help players prepare for the demands of international softball.

The 18-player squad is:

  1. Pippa Adkins
  2. Taylor Chillingworth
  3. Nicole Connacher
  4. Regan Dias
  5. Mya Geros
  6. Amber Hood
  7. Georgia Hood

Tour Part of Australia’s World Cup Preparations

Softball Australia General Manager of Game Development Clare Walker said international tours are an important part of the organisation’s high-performance programme.

According to Walker, these opportunities allow players to gain experience against international opposition, strengthen squad depth and support future selection decisions.

The Japan tour will therefore serve as an important step as Australia continues building its squad for the 2027 World Cup.

2027 Women’s Softball World Cup Finals

The WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027 will take place from April 5 to 11, 2027, at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe, Australia.

Eight teams are expected to compete at the finals, including six direct qualifiers and two Wild Card teams.

The tournament will determine the Women’s Softball World Champion, while also providing a pathway toward qualification for the LA28 Olympic Games.

Australia’s Japan tour will give its players another opportunity to gain international experience before the home World Cup next year.
