WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Oklahoma City Group: Schedule, Format and Qualification Stakes

The WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Oklahoma City is set to take place from September 12 to 16 at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park, with six national teams competing for places in the 2027 World Cup Finals.

Brazil, China, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand and host nation USA will participate in the Oklahoma City group. The tournament will feature a 15-game Opening Round before the competition moves into the play-off stage on September 16.

Two teams will earn direct qualification for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027, while another team will have an opportunity to claim a place through the tournament’s qualification pathway.

Opening Day Schedule

Brazil and China will officially begin the competition on Saturday, September 12, with their game scheduled for 1:00 pm local time.

New Zealand will then meet the Netherlands at 4:00 pm. The tournament’s opening ceremony will follow at 6:30 pm, before hosts USA face Mexico at 7:30 pm.

The USA-Mexico game was originally scheduled for 7:00 pm but has been moved to 7:30 pm to accommodate the opening ceremony.

Saturday, September 12

  • 1:00 pm — Brazil vs China
  • 4:00 pm — New Zealand vs Netherlands
  • 6:30 pm — Opening ceremony
  • 7:30 pm — Mexico vs USA

Sunday, September 13

  • 10:00 am — China vs New Zealand
  • 1:00 pm — USA vs Brazil
  • 4:00 pm — Mexico vs Netherlands
  • 7:00 pm — Netherlands vs USA

Monday, September 14

  • 10:00 am — Mexico vs Brazil
  • 1:00 pm — China vs Netherlands
  • 4:00 pm — New Zealand vs Mexico
  • 7:00 pm — USA vs New Zealand

Tuesday, September 15

  • 10:00 am — Brazil vs Netherlands
  • 1:00 pm — Mexico vs China
  • 4:00 pm — New Zealand vs Brazil
  • 7:00 pm — China vs USA

How the Play-Offs Will Work

After the Opening Round, the six teams will be ranked according to their results.

The play-off stage will begin on Wednesday, September 16. The teams finishing fifth and sixth will meet at 10:00 am.

The top two teams from the Opening Round will then face each other at 1:00 pm. The winner of that game will secure the first available qualification spot for the 2027 World Cup Finals.

The teams that finish third and fourth will meet at 4:00 pm. The winner of that contest will then play the loser of the 1:00 pm game in a Repechage match at 7:00 pm.

The winner of the Repechage will claim the second qualification place.

What Is at Stake?

The Oklahoma City group is an important step toward the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027.

With two qualification places available, every Opening Round game could have a major impact on the final standings and the teams’ routes through the play-offs.

The competition will also give the participating teams an opportunity to test themselves against high-level international opposition ahead of the next stage of the Women’s Softball World Cup.
