Pakistan Weather Update: More Monsoon Rain Expected in Coming Days
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast another spell of monsoon rain across several parts of the country during the coming days.
According to the Met Office, monsoon currents are currently affecting the upper parts of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is also influencing the region. The westerly system is expected to become stronger on September 4 and 5.
As a result, several areas may experience rain, wind and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall possible in some locations.
Rain Forecast for Kashmir
Kashmir is expected to receive rain, wind and thunderstorms from September 3 to 6, with occasional breaks between spells.
Isolated heavy rainfall is possible in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.
Islamabad and Punjab
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang and Attock from September 3 to 5.
Several other parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Hafizabad and Kasur, may also receive rain during this period.
The Met Office has warned that some areas could experience heavy and occasionally very heavy rainfall.
In Okara, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Noorpur Thal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan, rain and thunderstorms are expected mainly on September 4 and 5.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to Receive Rain
Several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to experience rain and thunderstorms from the evening or night of September 3 through September 5.
The forecast includes Peshawar, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Waziristan may also receive rain during the forecast period. Scattered heavy and, at times, very heavy rainfall is possible.
Gilgit-Baltistan Weather Outlook
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan from September 3 to 6.
Areas including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar may receive moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy showers possible.
Mostly Hot Weather in Sindh and Balochistan
Most parts of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and humid during the forecast period.
However, rain and thunderstorms may occur in Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel and nearby areas.
Residents in areas expecting heavy rainfall are advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions and follow updates from the relevant authorities.
