Cricket board seeks experienced coach to strengthen national team’s fielding standards
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has begun the recruitment process for a new fielding coach for the national men’s cricket team as it looks to further strengthen its coaching staff.
The board has announced the vacancy through its official LinkedIn account and is accepting applications from qualified candidates. Interested applicants have until September 9, 2026, to submit their applications.
New Coach to Focus on Fielding Development
According to the PCB’s job advertisement, the successful candidate will be responsible for improving the fielding abilities of Pakistan’s national team players.
The role will involve helping players develop their fielding techniques, assessing performances and supporting their overall development to meet international standards.
The PCB is seeking candidates who have a strong understanding of modern fielding methods, match analysis and player development.
Experience and Coaching Qualification Required
Applicants must hold at least a Level II cricket coaching qualification and have a minimum of five years of relevant coaching experience.
The board has indicated that experience working with elite-level cricketers, national teams, franchise sides or international teams will be considered suitable for the position.
Candidates are also expected to demonstrate the ability to work with high-level players and contribute to improving the team’s overall fielding performance.
Vacancy Follows Shane McDermott’s Departure
The recruitment drive comes after Shane McDermott left his position as Pakistan’s all-format fielding coach in July.
McDermott joined Pakistan’s coaching setup in July 2025 and worked with the national team across formats during his tenure.
The PCB’s latest recruitment effort is aimed at filling the vacancy and ensuring the national side continues to have specialist support in an important area of modern cricket.
