Umar Gul Clarifies Viral Shaheen Afridi Incident During Bangladesh Test

Pakistan red-ball bowling coach Umar Gul has responded to social media speculation surrounding a viral video involving Shaheen Afridi during the second Test match against Bangladesh at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The clip circulated widely online, with some users suggesting there was tension between Shaheen Afridi and the coaching staff. However, no verified details of the conversation were available, leading to confusion and speculation on social media.

Addressing the matter, Umar Gul dismissed reports of any disagreement within the Pakistan team. He explained that pacer Hasan Ali had suffered a head injury during the match and was temporarily off the field. According to Gul, Shaheen Afridi was only being updated about the situation as part of normal team communication.

“There was a misunderstanding on social media regarding Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali. Hasan Ali had suffered a head injury and was off the field, and Shaheen was simply informed about the situation. There is no issue, but it was misinterpreted online,” Gul said.

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh set Pakistan a challenging target of 437 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim played a key role with an impressive 137-run innings off 233 balls, including 12 fours and a six. Litton Das contributed 69 runs, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy added 52.

Pakistan began the chase steadily but lost both openers later in the innings. By lunch on day four, Pakistan had reached 101 for 2, with Shan Masood and Babar Azam at the crease, aiming to stabilize the innings.
