PHF Raises National Hockey Championship Prize Money to Rs. 28 Million

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced a major increase in prize money for the upcoming national hockey championships, raising the total prize pool to Rs. 28 million.

PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani said the new prize structure will give players a greater financial incentive to perform well, with individual participants now able to compete for cash rewards worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Higher Rewards for Domestic Players

The increased prize money represents a significant change from previous national competitions, where players generally received daily allowances and accommodation rather than substantial cash prizes.

According to the federation, the new financial incentives are intended to motivate players and encourage stronger performances throughout the domestic competitions.

Focus on Developing New Talent

The PHF also expects the national championships to play an important role in identifying promising players who could eventually represent Pakistan at the international level.

By creating more competitive domestic tournaments, the federation aims to provide players with greater opportunities to develop their skills and gain valuable match experience.

Championships Scheduled for January 2027

The upcoming national competitions will feature the National Senior, Junior and Under-15 Hockey Championships.

Players from different age groups will have the opportunity to compete at the national level and showcase their abilities in front of selectors and officials.

The championships are scheduled to be held in January 2027. The PHF is expected to announce the venues, participating teams and detailed distribution of the Rs. 28 million prize pool at a later stage.

The move is being seen as an effort to strengthen domestic hockey and provide players with greater recognition and financial support.
