Softball Canada Names 16-Player Squad for U-18 Men’s World Cup 2027

Softball Canada has announced a 16-player squad that will represent the country at the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027 in the Czech Republic.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 18 to 26, 2027, with matches set to be played in Havlíčkův Brod and Ledenice.
Softball Canada Operations Manager Gilles LeBlanc congratulated the selected players and said the country has a strong pool of talent at the U-18 level. He added that the coaching staff is looking forward to working with the players as they prepare for the international competition.
Selection Process
The Canadian coaching staff has been monitoring young players for the past two years as part of the preparation for the World Cup.
A selection camp was held in Napanee, Ontario, last month following the U-17 Men’s Canadian Championship in Surrey, British Columbia.
The coaching team used performances from domestic competitions, along with its long-term scouting programme, to finalize the World Cup roster.
Canada Secures World Cup Qualification
Canada earned its place in the 2027 tournament after winning a bronze medal at the 2025 WBSC Americas Pan American Championship in Bahia Blanca, Argentina.
Along with Canada, Argentina, Mexico and Venezuela also qualified for the U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup through the continental competition.
Canada’s Strong World Cup Record
Canada enters the 2027 tournament with an impressive history in the U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup.
The Canadian team won a bronze medal at the previous edition in Hermosillo, Mexico, in 2023. It was the country’s sixth bronze medal in the competition.
Overall, Canada has won nine medals at the U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup, including one gold, two silver and six bronze medals.
Canada’s only gold medal came in 1993 in Auckland, New Zealand.
With nine medals, Canada is the second-most successful team in the history of the tournament. Japan leads the medal standings with 12 medals, while Australia and New Zealand have seven each.
The Canadian squad will now begin preparations for the 2027 World Cup, where the team will aim to build on its strong international record.
