Brydon Carse’s Place in England XI Uncertain After Derby Incident

England fast bowler Brydon Carse could face uncertainty over his involvement in the second Test against Pakistan after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that it is reviewing an incident reportedly involving the player in Derby.
A video shared on social media appears to show Carse being spoken to by police officers outside a nightclub on Saturday night. England players Matthew Potts and Ben Stokes were also reportedly present at the scene.
ECB Reviewing the Incident
The ECB confirmed that it is aware of the incident and has started looking into the circumstances.
The board said it would provide further information when appropriate.
Reports indicate that Carse was briefly detained by police but was not arrested and was released without charge. Derbyshire Constabulary was contacted for further information, while Durham did not comment.
Carse Part of England’s Squad
The 31-year-old is currently included in England’s squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s.
Carse was allowed to play for Durham after he was not selected in England’s XI for the opening Test at Headingley. He scored 26 runs and recorded match bowling figures of 2/82 as Durham defeated Derbyshire by 338 runs.
The reported incident took place after the match while Carse was celebrating the victory with his Durham teammates.
He was expected to return to the England squad in London on Monday before training sessions at Lord’s. His availability for the second Test will depend on the outcome of the ECB’s review.
Carse Returns After Injury
Carse has not yet played for England this summer after missing the series against New Zealand because of wrist and elbow injuries.
He later returned to competitive cricket and was selected for England’s ODI squad against India before earning a place in the Test squad after demonstrating his fitness in The Hundred.
The latest development comes as England continues to focus on player conduct away from the cricket field. Any decision regarding Carse’s participation will be made after the ECB has assessed the circumstances surrounding the incident.
