Lahore Recovers Only 3% of Rs13 Billion Suthra Punjab Cleanliness Bills

The Suthra Punjab cleanliness programme has recorded a low bill collection rate in Lahore, with only around 3% of the total billed amount recovered during the first seven months of the year.

According to available data, authorities issued approximately 5.19 million cleanliness bills in Lahore since January. However, only about 275,000 bills had been paid during the period.

The total value of the issued bills was around Rs13 billion, while collections stood at approximately Rs360 million.

Residential Bill Payments Remain Low

Residential areas have also recorded a limited response to the cleanliness bills.

Around 2.8 million bills were issued to residential consumers, but only approximately 127,000 payments were received.

Commercial Areas Also Show Low Recovery

Bill collection from commercial consumers remained limited as well. Authorities issued around 2.3 million commercial bills during the seven-month period, of which approximately 148,000 were paid.

The low recovery rate has become a challenge for the Suthra Punjab programme as authorities work to meet its financial targets.

Officials are expected to focus on improving awareness, payment compliance and collection mechanisms to increase recovery in the coming months.
