England Become First Team to Reach Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Semi-Finals

Report: Imran Sohail

Hosts England have become the first team to secure a place in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals after an impressive victory over the West Indies at Lord’s.

The win lifted England to eight points from their group-stage matches, guaranteeing a top-two finish in Group 2 and confirming their spot in the tournament’s final four.

With one semi-final place from Group 2 already taken, the battle for the remaining qualification spot remains open. The West Indies currently hold the advantage and can secure a semi-final berth by defeating Ireland in their final group-stage match.

Defending champions New Zealand and Sri Lanka also remain in contention. Both teams must win their remaining fixtures and hope other results work in their favour to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

In Group 1, six-time champions Australia are strongly positioned to advance after collecting eight points from four matches. While qualification is not yet mathematically confirmed, Australia are in an excellent position heading into the final round of group games.

India, South Africa and Bangladesh are also competing for a place in the knockout stage. All three teams remain in contention, with South Africa currently enjoying a slight advantage based on their overall position and remaining fixtures.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland have been eliminated from the race for the semi-finals after failing to secure enough points during the group stage.

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has delivered several exciting contests so far, and the race for the remaining semi-final spots is expected to continue until the final group matches.

The tournament’s first semi-final is scheduled for June 30, while the second semi-final will be played on July 2 as teams continue their pursuit of the prestigious world title.
