England Defeat New Zealand in The Golden Jubilee Polo Match at Beaufort International
England secured a win over New Zealand in The Golden Jubilee match held at Beaufort Polo Club on Saturday, 13 June, as part of the Beaufort International Polo Festival (formerly the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo).
The match was played in front of a large crowd under sunny conditions, featuring two experienced international line-ups.
New Zealand started strongly and took an early lead, led by veteran player JP Clarkin, who brought experience and control to the team alongside Jimmy Wood, Lachie Appleby, and George Cronin.
England, captained by Ollie Cudmore, responded quickly with two goals to shift momentum in their favor. The team also included Ed Banner-Eve, Toby Bradshaw, and Jack Aldridge, who replaced Jake Coventry for the match.
As the game progressed, England maintained control with strong defensive and attacking play, limiting New Zealand’s scoring opportunities. Key contributions in midfield helped England extend their lead heading into the final chukka.
England continued their dominance in the closing stages and finished the match with a 7–4½ victory, securing The Golden Jubilee Trophy.
