Four KP Districts Impose 30-Day Restrictions on Fertilizer Trade Over Security Concerns
The district administrations of Bajaur, Bannu, Upper South Waziristan, and Lower South Waziristan have imposed a 30-day restriction on the sale, purchase, storage, and transportation of certain fertilizers as part of security measures.
The restrictions have been enforced under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) following concerns that fertilizers could potentially be misused for unlawful purposes.
Bajaur Introduces Immediate Restrictions
According to the district administration, the order was issued by Deputy Commissioner Adnan Farid on the directions of the Home and Tribal Affairs Department.
Officials stated that limiting the movement and storage of fertilizers is intended to help maintain public safety and support law enforcement efforts. The notification also places restrictions on the sale, purchase, and transportation of explosives within the district.
Legal Action for Violations
Authorities warned that individuals or businesses found violating the restrictions may face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), along with any other applicable laws.
Similar Orders in South Waziristan
Separate notifications have also been issued in Upper South Waziristan and Lower South Waziristan, placing temporary restrictions on the sale, purchase, storage, and transportation of urea fertilizer.
The orders took effect on July 27, 2026, and are scheduled to remain in force until August 25, 2026, unless revised, extended, or withdrawn by the authorities.
Bannu Also Enforces One-Month Ban
The district administration in Bannu has introduced similar restrictions on the sale, purchase, and transportation of urea fertilizer for one month.
Fertilizer dealers have been instructed to maintain proper sales and inventory records and comply with the official directives.
Authorities Monitoring Situation
Officials said the temporary measures are part of broader efforts to strengthen public safety and maintain law and order. They added that the restrictions may be extended, amended, or lifted depending on the security situation and administrative assessment.
