The Sindh government has inaugurated a modern Agriculture Research Laboratory in Tandojam, introducing free crop disease testing services aimed at helping farmers identify plant diseases more quickly and accurately.

The new facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology capable of conducting up to 90 crop tests simultaneously, enabling experts to detect diseases and viruses in a shorter time.

Faster Disease Detection for Farmers

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Sindh Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar said the laboratory uses advanced molecular diagnostic technology that can identify crop diseases in as little as two hours.

The faster testing process is expected to help farmers respond quickly to disease outbreaks, reducing crop losses and improving farm productivity.

Supporting Modern Agriculture

According to provincial officials, the laboratory is part of broader efforts to strengthen agricultural research and provide farmers with modern scientific support.

The facility is expected to:

  • Offer free crop disease testing services to farmers.
  • Improve early detection of plant diseases and viruses.
  • Support better crop management and productivity.
  • Help farmers respond more effectively to climate-related agricultural challenges.

Boosting the Agriculture Sector

Officials believe the new research laboratory will contribute to the modernization of Sindh’s agriculture sector by improving research capabilities and supporting sustainable farming practices.

The initiative is also expected to enhance crop protection efforts while strengthening the province’s agricultural economy through improved disease management and timely scientific assistance.
