Government Increases Petrol and Diesel Prices Across Pakistan

The federal government has announced an increase in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), citing changes in international oil markets.

According to an official notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the revised fuel prices came into effect on July 23.

New Fuel Prices

Under the latest revision:

  • Petrol: Increased by Rs6.39 per litre to Rs327.12 per litre
  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Increased by Rs7.83 per litre to Rs375.04 per litre

The government said the adjustment reflects movements in global petroleum prices.

Daily Fuel Pricing System

The latest price revision comes as authorities move toward a daily fuel pricing mechanism, replacing the previous weekly review system.

Officials say the new approach is intended to better reflect fluctuations in international oil markets and ensure more timely price adjustments.

Petrol Pump Strike Postponed

Meanwhile, the All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association (APPPOA) has postponed its planned nationwide strike for two weeks following discussions with government representatives.

Both sides agreed to continue consultations on issues including:

  • Daily fuel pricing
  • Dealers’ profit margins
  • Other operational concerns affecting petrol pump owners

Impact on Consumers

Petrol is widely used by motorists, motorcycle riders, and public transport operators, while high-speed diesel is essential for heavy transport, agriculture, and industrial operations.

As a result, changes in fuel prices can influence transportation costs and other sectors of the economy.

Government officials say fuel prices will continue to be reviewed in line with developments in international energy markets.
