Islamabad Expands Free Hepatitis C Screening and Treatment Services

The District Health Office (DHO) Islamabad has expanded free Hepatitis C screening, diagnosis and treatment services at several government healthcare facilities across the capital.

The services are being provided under the Prime Minister’s National Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C, with the aim of improving access to testing and treatment at the primary healthcare level.

Free Hepatitis C Services Available at More Facilities

According to official sources, residents can now access free Hepatitis C-related services at the following public health facilities:

  • Rural Health Centre Tarlai
  • Rural Health Centre Bhara Kahu
  • Rural Health Centre Sihala
  • Community Health Centre Rawat
  • Community Health Centre Shah Allah Ditta
  • Basic Health Centre Sohan
  • Basic Health Centre Golra Sharif

The expansion is intended to make screening and treatment more accessible to residents, particularly those who may face difficulties reaching larger hospitals or specialized healthcare centres.

Focus on Early Detection and Treatment

Health authorities have emphasized the importance of early screening and timely medical care for Hepatitis C.

The DHO said government healthcare facilities in Islamabad are also providing free medical consultations, screening and other services related to Hepatitis C.

According to health officials, Hepatitis C can be diagnosed and treated, while timely medical attention can help reduce the risk of serious health complications.

Citizens Encouraged to Get Screened

Residents of Islamabad have been advised to visit their nearest government health facility for screening and medical consultation if they have concerns about possible exposure or their health.

The DHO has also encouraged citizens to follow preventive measures and cooperate with healthcare workers involved in the screening and treatment programme.

The initiative is part of wider national efforts to increase access to Hepatitis C testing and treatment and support Pakistan’s goal of reducing and eventually eliminating the disease.
