Islamabad Police Take Disciplinary Action Over Refusal of Duty Assignments in AJK and GB
Islamabad Police have initiated departmental proceedings against officials who reportedly failed to comply with duty assignments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). According to official documents, one constable has already been dismissed from service following an inquiry.
The case involves Constable Ahmad Ali, who was serving in Capital Patrols and was assigned election-related duty. He was directed to report to Police Lines Headquarters for deployment in AJK. However, the official allegedly did not comply with repeated instructions to join duty.
Police records state that the constable failed to report for assignment and remained absent without providing a valid justification. Authorities noted that such conduct constitutes a violation of departmental rules and discipline.
Following an internal inquiry, the Superintendent of Police (Capital Patrols) imposed a major penalty of dismissal from service under the Punjab Police Efficiency and Discipline (E&D) Rules, 1975, which are applicable to Islamabad Police.
Officials further stated that duty assignments, including postings outside the capital region, are part of routine operational responsibilities, and non-compliance can lead to disciplinary action.
Reports also suggest that a number of other personnel did not report for duty after being assigned to AJK and GB. Police officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that adherence to lawful orders is essential for maintaining discipline within law enforcement agencies.
