LeBron James Hits Late Three as Lakers Rally to Beat Rockets in Overtime, Take 3–0 Series Lead

LeBron James scored 29 points, including a crucial three-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation, as the Los Angeles Lakers came from behind to defeat the Houston Rockets 112–108 in overtime on Friday night, taking a 3–0 lead in their Western Conference first-round playoff series.

The Lakers staged a late comeback, overcoming a six-point deficit in the final 30 seconds of regulation to force overtime. In the extra period, they opened with a strong 6–2 run, with Marcus Smart contributing key baskets to give Los Angeles control of the game.

Smart finished overtime with eight points, including a three-pointer that helped the Lakers build momentum. He also added late free throws to secure the win as Houston attempted a final push in the closing seconds.

James played more than 45 minutes in the game and led the team in scoring. With key teammates Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves unavailable due to injuries, he took on a heavier workload throughout the contest.

Despite missing star player Kevin Durant, the Rockets remained competitive but were unable to hold off the Lakers’ late surge. Houston had briefly led late in regulation before Los Angeles forced overtime with James’ equalizing shot.

Lakers coach JJ Redick praised his team’s resilience, especially in a high-pressure road playoff environment.

The Lakers now hold a commanding 3–0 series lead and will look to complete a sweep in Game 4 in Houston.
