Pakistan Railways Launches Upgraded Awam Express Between Peshawar and Karachi

Pakistan Railways has introduced an upgraded Awam Express service between Peshawar and Karachi, aiming to improve long-distance travel facilities for passengers across the country.

The new service was inaugurated at Peshawar Cantt Railway Station during a ceremony attended by railway officials and former national cricket captain Shahid Afridi.

Improved Facilities for Passengers

According to Pakistan Railways, the upgraded Awam Express now includes air-conditioned coaches, improved seating arrangements, and enhanced onboard passenger services. The train has a total capacity of more than 1,200 passengers.

Officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to modernize the railway system and improve travel comfort for long-distance passengers.

Route and Schedule

The train departed from Peshawar in the evening and travels through major cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rohri, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, and other key stations before reaching Karachi.

Officials Highlight Service Improvement

Speaking at the event, railway officials said the upgraded service reflects Pakistan Railways’ focus on improving operations, increasing efficiency, and enhancing passenger experience.
