Pakistan to Introduce Mobile App for Passport Fee Payments

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) is working on a new digital payment solution that will allow citizens to pay passport and immigration-related fees through a mobile application.

The initiative is being developed in collaboration with a private-sector bank, whose representatives recently met with DGIP Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa to discuss the implementation of the proposed cashless payment system.

Under the planned system, users will be able to make payments directly through a mobile app, eliminating the need for traditional payment methods and helping streamline the application process. The bank has reportedly begun developing the necessary infrastructure to support the service.

During the meeting, officials emphasized that digital payments can help improve service delivery by making transactions faster, more convenient, and transparent for citizens.

Both parties also reviewed and finalized key aspects of the rollout mechanism as part of broader efforts to expand digital services and encourage cashless transactions in Pakistan.

According to officials, the project aims to provide secure and user-friendly payment options while supporting the ongoing modernization of immigration and passport-related services.

Citizens Advised to Use Official Channels

Separately, authorities have issued a public advisory regarding reports of fraudulent activity involving the online listing of the Regional Passport Office in G-10, Islamabad.

Officials stated that an individual allegedly added unauthorized contact information to an online map listing and has been attempting to collect payments through personal banking and mobile wallet accounts.

The DGIP has urged citizens not to share personal information or send payments to unofficial individuals or accounts. Applicants are advised to obtain passport-related information and assistance only through official government channels.

The planned digital payment platform is expected to further enhance security and convenience for citizens seeking passport and immigration services in the future.
