Punjab Issues New Directive on Deployment of Nursing Staff
The Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED) has issued new instructions regarding the deployment of nursing staff across government healthcare facilities.
The department has directed all hospitals and medical institutions to ensure that nurses are assigned only to their designated roles and are not placed on general duty outside their official job descriptions.
Focus on Proper Staffing Structure
According to an official communication, the practice of assigning nursing staff to unrelated duties was affecting the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.
Authorities have now emphasized that nurses must perform duties strictly according to their appointed positions and responsibilities.
Instructions Sent to Health Institutions
The directive has been circulated to:
- Director General Nursing
- Medical superintendents of teaching hospitals
- Principals of nursing colleges
All concerned institutions have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new policy.
Aim to Improve Patient Care
Health officials stated that the decision is intended to strengthen hospital management systems and improve the overall quality of patient care by ensuring proper utilization of nursing staff.
