Record Growth in Software Sector

This milestone marks the first time in history that software exports alone have exceeded the $1 billion mark within the first 11 months of a fiscal year.

Total IT Exports Reach $3.47 Billion

The overall IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) exports reached $3.47 billion during the July–May FY25 period. Among these, software consultancy services contributed the largest share, accounting for 29.1% of the total.

Export Breakdown:

  • 💻 Computer Software: $534 million

  • ☎️ Call Center Services: $298 million

  • 📡 Telecom Services: $199 million

Industry Insight

Muhammad Umair Nizam, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), emphasized that software consultancy remains the core strength of Pakistan’s IT sector.

Full-Year Outlook

Pakistan’s FY25 IT exports are projected to close at around $3.85 to $3.9 billion, just slightly under the government’s $4 billion target. Experts attribute the shortfall to occasional internet disruptions, which have affected service delivery and business continuity.

Moving Forward

Despite the challenges, Pakistan’s IT sector continues to grow steadily, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to the country’s export economy. With sustained investment in digital infrastructure and talent development, the outlook remains promising.
