Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Cracks Down on Illegal Parking Fee Collection
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a major operation to stop illegal parking fee collection across the city. This initiative comes after directives from Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who recently announced that 32 designated parking spots in Karachi will now offer free parking to the public.
Following numerous public complaints, the City Warden Department conducted surprise inspections at key locations including Chase Up, Aladdin Park, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. During these inspections, individuals found charging unauthorized parking fees were apprehended and handed over to the local police for further legal proceedings.
Mayor Wahab emphasized that providing free and hassle-free parking remains a top priority for the city administration. He urged the parking department to strengthen enforcement efforts and warned that anyone exploiting public spaces for personal profit would face strict penalties.
“We are committed to serving the people of Karachi and will not tolerate misuse of public areas for personal gain,” the mayor stated.
To ensure fairness and transparency, KMC has urged citizens to report any illegal parking fee collection through its helpline. The city administration promises prompt action to maintain an efficient and just parking system for all residents.
