WhatsApp Introduces Manual Notification Reminders for Individual Messages in Latest Android Beta
WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature designed to help users stay organized by setting manual notification reminders for specific messages within chats. Currently available to select users via the latest Android beta update (version 2.25.21.14), this addition ensures important messages don’t get overlooked.
How the Reminder Feature Works
Beta testers can now long-press any message and select the new “Set Reminder” option from the message menu. Users can pick preset intervals like 2 hours, 8 hours, or 1 day, or customize a reminder for a specific date and time. Once set, a small bell icon appears on the message bubble, clearly marking flagged messages.
Timely Notifications with Full Context
When a reminder triggers, WhatsApp sends a full notification displaying the message content, any attached media (images or videos), and the originating chat name. This makes it easy to revisit important conversations and respond promptly.
Privacy-Focused and User-Friendly
All reminders are stored locally on the device and remain private. Neither other chat participants nor WhatsApp can see or access reminder data, ensuring complete user privacy.
Who Can Access the Feature?
Currently, this feature is limited to a small group of Android beta users. WhatsApp plans to expand access to more users in the coming weeks.
This new reminder tool is ideal for managing critical information, from work messages to important personal chats, helping users stay on top of what matters most.
