No Visa Needed: Pakistan and Bangladesh Sign Major Travel Deal

Pakistan and Bangladesh Agree to Visa-Free Entry for Diplomatic Passport Holders

In a significant development aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to allow visa-free entry for holders of diplomatic and official passports.

The agreement was finalized during a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh’s Home Minister Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury in Dhaka.

Warm Reception and Strengthened Bilateral Relations

Minister Naqvi received a formal welcome at the Ministry of Home Affairs, complete with a guard of honour. During their talks, Minister Chowdhury highlighted the importance of this visit and called it a “meaningful step toward improving regional ties.”

Both nations agreed to reciprocal visa exemptions for government officials and diplomatic staff — a move that will streamline travel and facilitate smoother collaboration between the two countries.

Deeper Security and Policing Cooperation

Beyond the visa agreement, the ministers committed to enhanced cooperation in internal security, with key areas including:

  • Counter-terrorism

  • Anti-narcotics operations

  • Human trafficking prevention

  • Police training and knowledge exchange

To facilitate this cooperation, a joint committee will be formed. Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Interior, Mr. Khurram Agha, will head the Pakistani delegation on the committee.

Upcoming High-Level Visit to Islamabad

A Bangladeshi delegation is set to visit Islamabad in the near future. During the trip, the officials will review Pakistan’s Safe City Project and tour the National Police Academy to explore modern policing and surveillance practices.

Conclusion

This agreement marks a positive shift in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, focusing on diplomatic ease, security cooperation, and institutional growth. The developments pave the way for future collaboration in law enforcement, border security, and technology exchange.
