Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Visit Pakistan on August 2-3

ISLAMABAD – The Foreign Office of Pakistan has officially confirmed that Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian will undertake a state visit to Pakistan on August 2-3, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The announcement was made following reports from Iran’s IRNA news agency, which noted that the visit aims to promote bilateral engagement, particularly with Pakistan’s cultural and commercial leaders.

High-Level Iranian Delegation Expected

President Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a senior delegation, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, key ministers, and high-ranking officials. During his visit, he will hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and also meet President Asif Ali Zardari.

“This marks Dr. Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan as President of Iran,” the Foreign Office stated. “The visit is expected to further deepen the long-standing brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran.”

Growing Bilateral Cooperation

President Pezeshkian’s visit follows PM Shehbaz Sharif’s trip to Iran in May 2025, which was part of a broader regional outreach. The two sides have been keen on boosting cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, security, and cultural exchange.

Observers believe this visit signals both countries’ commitment to regional stability and their shared desire to enhance mutual diplomatic and economic interests.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar previously highlighted the importance of this visit, expressing hope for stronger diplomatic engagement. He noted that Pakistan supports a peaceful and cooperative approach in the region and values dialogue with neighboring Iran.

Second Iranian Presidential Visit in Two Years

This will be the second visit by an Iranian president in as many years, emphasizing the growing momentum in bilateral relations. In May 2024, PM Shehbaz had also visited Iran to attend the memorial service of former President Ebrahim Raisi, where he met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Strengthening Regional Ties

The upcoming visit is expected to pave the way for new trade agreements, improved border management, and deeper cultural connections between the two nations—key priorities as both countries navigate a changing geopolitical landscape.
