England rugby star Marlie Packer has been handed a one-match suspension following a review by the Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC). The disciplinary action stems from a red card issued during England’s match against Spain at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on 2 August 2025, for a breach of Law 9.20(e)—targeting or dropping body weight onto the lower limbs of a player.
The FPRC, chaired by Helen Morgan (New Zealand) and joined by former internationals Ofisa Tonu’u (New Zealand) and Sarah Smith (Scotland), carried out the review under World Rugby’s expedited off-field sanction process. This process allows decisions without a formal hearing, although players may submit written responses.
