Gas Supply to Punjab Disrupted After Pipeline Blast in Lakki Marwat
LAKKI MARWAT: A gas pipeline was blown up by unidentified militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday, cutting off supply to parts of Punjab, police confirmed.
According to police spokesperson Aamir Khan, the explosion occurred in the Bhana Manjiwala area after explosives were planted on the main transmission line. The blast created a deep crater and completely halted gas supply to Punjab’s Mianwali region.
A heavy police contingent and bomb disposal squad reached the site and launched a search operation. Officials noted this is the fourth such attack in recent months, with similar incidents reported in July and June targeting pipelines from the Bettani Gas Field.
Lakki Marwat, historically affected by militancy, has seen a resurgence in terrorist activity, raising concerns over the region’s security and stability.
