Bryl and Łosiak Secure Quarterfinal Spot at Montréal Beach Pro Tour

Montréal, August 15, 2025 – Polish Olympians Michal Bryl and Bartosz Łosiak have become the first men’s team guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite event in Montréal, Canada.

The European duo dominated Pool C play at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Thursday, winning their first two matches in straight sets and securing a third victory by default on Friday, after Qatari medalists Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse withdrew due to injury. With these results, Bryl and Łosiak will advance as top seed in Pool C, earning a direct spot in the quarterfinals.

In their opening match, the Poles defeated Germany’s Paul Henning and Lui Wüst 21-11, 21-11. Later, they topped Australian Olympians Izar Carracher and Mark Nicolaidis 21-14, 21-17, confirming their strong form and dominance in the pool.

Other Pool C teams, including Henning/Wüst and Carracher/Nicolaidis, will still compete in a final match to determine second and third place.

Norwegian Duo Mol and Sørum Advance After Tie-Break Wins
Defending Montréal champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum also advanced to the elimination rounds, though both matches went to three sets. They overcame Chilean Grimalt brothers Marco and Esteban 17-21, 22-20, 15-10, and later defeated Swiss pair Marco Krattiger and Leo Dillier 21-23, 21-19, 24-22. Mol and Sørum will face the Capogrosso brothers on Friday to decide Pool A’s top position.

Pool B and D Updates

  • Pool B: Swedish teams claimed victories. Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig beat Germans Sven Winter and Lukas Pfretzschner 21-16, 21-16. Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson defeated English twins Javier and Joaquin Bello 21-14, 21-14.

  • Pool D: Czech world champions Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner won 21-15, 21-17 against Canadians Sam Schachter and Jonathan Pickett. Americans Miles Partain and Andy Benesh upset Brazilian Olympians Evandro Gonçalves and Arthur Lanci 19-21, 21-19, 16-14.

Upcoming Schedule
Pool play concludes on Friday with 12 matches, followed by the Round of 12 and quarterfinals on Saturday. Semifinals and medal matches will be held on Sunday, bringing an exciting end to the Montréal Elite event.
