Norwegian beach volleyball duo Anders Mol and Christian Sørum, the FIVB World Ranking leaders, clinched victory in the 2025 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Montréal Elite, successfully defending their title. The pair had previously won the event in 2023, and they repeated their success at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montréal.

Beach Volley Vikings Dominate Again

The Norwegians overcame a strong challenge in the gold medal match from Swedish up-and-comers Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Anderson, securing a two-set victory (21-19, 21-13). This victory marked another significant achievement for Mol and Sørum in front of the passionate Canadian crowd.

“They are such a strong team, and Swedish beach volleyball has a bright future,” Sørum said, recognizing the rising talent from Sweden. “We had to bring our best game to beat them today. The future looks dangerous with all Sweden has been doing, so we need to step up.”

Norwegian Dominance Continues

This win in Montréal was Mol and Sørum’s second title in the 2025 Beach Pro Tour, following their victory in Saquarema in April. Additionally, they secured their fifth European Championship title earlier this year. Their continued success on the tour includes a silver medal in Ostrava and a bronze in Brasília, making it four podium finishes in five Elite events.

Mol’s Reflections on the Win

“Moments like these are really what we live for,” Mol reflected after their win. “This is why we play the sport, and we love it so much. The fans brought an amazing atmosphere, and it was an honor to play in front of them.”

Hölting Nilsson and Andersson Shine with Silver

The young Swedish duo of Jacob Hölting Nilsson (20) and Elmer Anderson (19) earned silver in Montréal, continuing their impressive form on the Beach Pro Tour. They’ve won four medals in their last five tournaments, including gold at the Malmö Futures and the Baden Challenge, and silver in Gstaad and Montréal.

Czech Pair Perušič and Schweiner Take Bronze

In the bronze medal match, Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner, the reigning world champions, triumphed over Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig. The Czechs secured a dramatic three-set victory (14-21, 22-20, 20-18) to claim their first Beach Pro Tour podium appearance since a 13th-place finish in Gstaad earlier in the summer.

“It was a tough match, but we kept fighting until the end,” Schweiner said after the win. The Czechs also added gold medals in Yucatán and Alanya, and a bronze in Ostrava, rounding out an impressive season.

Next Stop: Hamburg, Germany

After Montréal, the 2025 Beach Pro Tour heads to Hamburg, Germany, for the next Elite event, scheduled for August 27-31. The race for the top continues, with teams from around the world eager to make their mark on the tour.
