Israel strikes a Gaza hospital twice, killing at least 20, including journalists and rescuers

Deadly Strikes Hit Gaza Hospital, Journalists Among Victims

A major hospital in the Gaza Strip was struck twice on Monday, leaving at least 20 people dead and many others injured, according to local health officials.

The attack is one of the most severe incidents in the ongoing 22-month conflict, where strikes have already impacted medical facilities and members of the press. The latest escalation comes as military operations expand into densely populated areas, with vows to continue targeting Hamas following the October 7, 2023 assault.

Tragically, the casualties included five journalists, among them 33-year-old Mariam Dagga, a visual journalist with The Associated Press.

According to Reuters, one of its reporters was killed in the initial strike while broadcasting live from the upper floor of Khan Younis’ Nasser Hospital. As fellow journalists and emergency responders rushed up an external stairwell to provide aid, a second strike hit the site, causing further devastation.

The incident underscores the rising humanitarian toll of the conflict, with hospitals, medical workers, and reporters increasingly caught in the crossfire.
