Miranda Wang Takes Two-Shot Lead at Rain-Delayed FM Championship

Miranda Wang showed patience and skill to finish a 5-under 67 on Friday, giving her a two-shot lead among those who completed their second rounds at the rain-affected FM Championship at TPC Boston.

The day was marked by multiple rain delays, stretching Wang’s round to nearly 10 hours. Despite the interruptions, she calmly sank an 8-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th after returning to the course two hours later, reaching a total of 11-under 133.

Wang has already made 16 birdies over her first 36 holes, including eight in her opening nine and a trio to close her second round. Her consistency and birdie streaks have made her a standout in the tournament so far.

Other top players, including Nelly Korda, were affected by the weather. Korda managed just four holes in her afternoon start, posting two birdies, and will return Saturday morning to complete her round. World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, along with Hannah Green and defending champion Lauren Coughlin, raced to finish their rounds before darkening skies caused another delay.

“I don’t think I could have mentally prepared myself for another delay,” Green said with a laugh, reflecting the challenges players faced during the wet conditions.

With the leaderboard taking shape, Wang’s performance makes her a strong contender for the FM Championship title as the tournament continues into the weekend.
