FIVB Women’s World Championship 2025: Quarterfinal Showdowns Set in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand: The 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship has reached the quarterfinal stage, with eight elite teams still in contention for the title. Following the conclusion of the eighthfinals, the top-ranked nations—including Brazil, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United States—remain in the hunt for glory.

The quarterfinals will take place in Bangkok over two days, Wednesday and Thursday (September 3-4), with matches starting at 17:00 and 20:30 local time (10:00 and 13:30 UTC).

Quarterfinal Matchups:

  • Netherlands vs Japan – Wednesday, 17:00
    Japan, the sole remaining Asian team, faces the Netherlands in a clash between the world’s fourth- and eighth-ranked teams. The Dutch eliminated two-time defending champions Serbia in a thrilling tie-breaker to reach this stage.

  • Italy vs Poland – Wednesday, 20:30
    The top-ranked Italy meets world No.3 Poland in one of the tournament’s most anticipated encounters. Italy dominated Pool B and defeated Germany in the eighthfinals, while Poland topped Pool G and overcame Belgium in a five-set thriller.

  • Brazil vs France – Thursday, 17:00
    Second-ranked Brazil will take on rising European power France. Brazil claimed a four-set victory over the Dominican Republic, while France caused the tournament’s biggest upset by defeating China in the eighthfinals. The two sides previously met in Pool C, with Brazil edging France in a comeback win.

  • USA vs Turkiye – Thursday, 20:30
    World No.6 USA faces world No.5 Turkiye in the final quarterfinal. The Americans topped Pool D undefeated and shut out Canada in the eighthfinals. Turkiye, the reigning European champions, have yet to drop a set, sweeping Pool E and Slovenia in their last match.

With four continental confederations represented, the quarterfinals promise high-intensity action as teams battle for a place in the semifinals and a step closer to the World Championship title.
