Conjunctivitis Cases Surge in Twin Cities

Conjunctivitis Cases on the Rise in Rawalpindi and Islamabad

A sudden increase in conjunctivitis (eye flu) cases has been reported in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with children, women, and elderly residents being the most affected. Many patients are now visiting hospitals and clinics across the twin cities for treatment, while demand for rose water has also surged.

In just the past three days, more than 2,100 patients suffering from eye infections were treated at the main government hospitals, including Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, and District Headquarters Hospital. Private hospitals and clinics are also seeing a sharp rise in visitors with similar symptoms.

According to Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Inayat, this is the second major outbreak of conjunctivitis in the last nine months in the region.

Preventive Tips for Conjunctivitis

Health experts recommend the following simple measures to reduce discomfort and prevent further spread:

  • Wash eyes daily with clean water.

  • Let fresh water gently rinse the eyes.

  • Use dark glasses to protect from irritation.

  • Apply small ice cubes to ease discomfort.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if severe pain occurs.

Residents are advised to take precautionary steps and avoid close contact with infected individuals to help control the spread of the infection.
