Pakistan Seeks $2 Billion in Fresh Financing from China for CPEC Projects
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has finalized the agenda for the upcoming Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting, where it plans to request over $2 billion in new financing from China, sources told ProPakistani.
The proposed agenda focuses on major projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), including the Karakoram Highway (KKH) Phase II realignment, the Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway project, and the East Bay Expressway.
Funding Requests
According to the proposals, Pakistan has sought:

$1.5 billion in Chinese financing for the KKH Phase II and East Bay Expressway

$500 million for the ML-1 railway section from Rohri to Multan
The realignment of KKH Phase II is expected to cost nearly Rs. 500 billion, while the 14-kilometer East Bay Expressway is estimated at over Rs. 30 billion.
Financing Structure
Under the financing plan, 85% of the project costs will be covered through Chinese funding, while the remaining portion will be financed by Pakistan.
