Brazil’s Laura Cardoso Sets Historic T20I Bowling Record

Brazil’s Laura Cardoso delivered a record-breaking performance in T20 International cricket, achieving the best bowling figures ever recorded in the format.

Playing against Lesotho national cricket team, Cardoso took an extraordinary nine wickets for just four runs in three overs. This makes her the first player in men’s or women’s T20 Internationals to claim nine wickets in a single innings.

Her remarkable spell surpasses the previous overall T20I record of 8/7, set by Sonam Yeshey in 2025. In women’s T20Is, she also improves upon the earlier best of 7/0 by Rohmalia Rohmalia in 2024.

Cardoso made an immediate impact, taking a hat-trick early in her spell and continuing to dominate throughout the innings. She quickly reduced the opposition’s batting lineup, reaching seven wickets within a short span before adding two more to complete a historic nine-wicket haul.

Lesotho were bowled out for just 13 runs, as Brazil secured a comprehensive 189-run victory.

Earlier in the match, Brazil posted a strong total of 202 runs, with key contributions from Roberta Avery, who scored 48, and Monnike Machado, who remained unbeaten on 69.

Cardoso’s performance is being widely recognized as one of the most outstanding bowling displays in T20I history, highlighting a rare achievement in a format typically dominated by batters.
