Chelsea Part Ways with Head Coach After Poor Run of Results
Chelsea FC have announced the departure of head coach Liam Rosenior following a disappointing run of results that saw the team lose seven of their last eight matches and struggle to score in five consecutive league games.
Poor Form Triggers Change
The decision comes just four months after Rosenior took charge in January, replacing Enzo Maresca. The club said the move was made due to recent performances falling below expectations at a critical stage of the season.
Chelsea’s latest setback came in a 3-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, a result that pushed Brighton above Chelsea in the league standings.
Struggles in Attack and Defence
The team has faced significant difficulties in front of goal, failing to score in five straight league matches — their worst scoring run in over a century. Despite a brief highlight in the FA Cup, consistency has remained an issue.
Chelsea also suffered a heavy Champions League exit, further adding to pressure on the coaching staff.
Mixed Start, Rapid Decline
Rosenior initially began his tenure strongly, guiding the team through an unbeaten early run that included several wins and draws. However, form deteriorated sharply in March, leading to a series of defeats.
The club also endured criticism following a 3-0 loss to Brighton, after which fans expressed frustration over team performances.
Interim Appointment and Next Steps
Chelsea have appointed Calum McFarlane as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The club faces an important FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United next.
Club officials stated that a full review will now take place as they begin the process of identifying a long-term managerial solution aimed at restoring stability and improving results.
