Pakistan Launches One-Window Airport Clearance System to Reduce Passenger Delays
The federal government has introduced a “one-window” clearance system aimed at modernizing airport operations and reducing delays for passengers across Pakistan.
The initiative was reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with participation from officials of the Interior and Defence ministries.
Streamlining Airport Processes
Under the new system, multiple security and verification checks will be consolidated into a single screening process. The goal is to reduce congestion and improve passenger flow at major airports.
Authorities plan to integrate advanced scanning technology and automated e-gates to speed up both arrival and departure procedures for domestic and international travelers.
Introduction of E-Gates
The government is also accelerating the installation of e-gates, which will help automate border control processes. These systems are expected to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency at immigration counters.
Officials said the upgraded system will replace several manual checkpoints with a unified and technology-driven clearance process.
Improved Passenger Experience
The new arrangement includes joint counters equipped with modern systems designed to handle passenger verification more efficiently. This is expected to significantly reduce long queues and improve the overall travel experience.
Focus on Aviation Safety
In addition to passenger facilitation, the government is taking steps to enhance aviation safety. Plans include the import of specialized equipment to help prevent bird strikes and improve operational safety at airports.
Alignment with International Standards
Officials said the reforms are part of a broader effort to bring Pakistan’s aviation system in line with international standards by improving efficiency, safety, and transparency.
The government aims to implement the system in phases as part of ongoing modernization efforts in the aviation sector.
