Framework has introduced its latest Laptop 13 Pro, marking the first major redesign of its modular laptop lineup since the original model debuted in 2021. The new version brings improvements in design, display, performance, and upgrade flexibility.
New Design and Display
The Laptop 13 Pro features a machined 6000-series aluminum chassis, designed to improve durability while maintaining the same compact footprint as the standard 13-inch model. It is 15.86mm thick and now comes in a new graphite color option, alongside silver components for upgrade users.
The device includes a 13.5-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a sharp 2880 × 1920 resolution. It also supports:
- Variable refresh rate (30Hz to 120Hz)
- Anti-glare coating
- Touch support
- Up to 700 nits brightness
This is the first Framework laptop to feature a fully custom display panel and integrated touchscreen.
Performance and Hardware
The Laptop 13 Pro runs on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, with options including Core Ultra 5, X7, and X9 chips. Selected configurations also support AMD Ryzen AI 300 mainboards.
Key hardware highlights include:
- PCIe 5.0 support
- Wi-Fi 7 connectivity
- LPCAMM2 memory (up to 64GB, 7,467 MT/s)
- User-upgradable storage options
Battery and Charging Improvements
The new model comes with a 74Wh battery, offering around 22% more capacity than the previous version. Framework claims the battery retains up to 80% health after 1,000 charging cycles.
It also includes a 100W GaN fast charger, replacing the older 60W adapter for quicker charging performance.
Input, Audio, and User Experience
The Laptop 13 Pro introduces a haptic touchpad designed by LiteOn, offering improved precision and responsiveness. The keyboard maintains a 1.5mm key travel for comfortable typing.
Additional improvements include:
- Enhanced speaker system
- Dolby Atmos support (Windows)
- Improved overall input experience
Linux support for advanced audio features is still being developed.
Upgrades and Compatibility
One of Framework’s strongest features remains its modular upgrade system. Users of earlier Laptop 13 models can upgrade individual parts, including:
- Display
- Mainboard
- Top and bottom covers
- Input modules
However, upgrading to the larger battery requires additional structural components due to design changes.
Software and Availability
For the first time, Framework will offer the Laptop 13 Pro with Ubuntu pre-installed, while still supporting Windows and other Linux distributions.
Pricing and Release:
- DIY version: Starting at $1,199
- Prebuilt version: Starting at $1,499
- Shipping begins: June 2026
Additional Announcements
Framework also unveiled several new accessories and developer-focused tools, including:
- Laptop sleeve and accessories lineup
- Keyboard with integrated touchpad for compact setups
- 10Gbps expansion card
- Updates for Framework Laptop 16 modules
- OCuLink developer kit for external GPU support
The company continues to emphasize repairability and modular computing as its core design philosophy.
