Karachi’s K-IV Water Project Expected to Be Completed by December 2026

Federal Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Mueen Wattoo has announced that the Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme, commonly known as the K-IV project, is expected to be completed by December 2026.

Speaking in the National Assembly, the minister said the project is being carried out under the supervision of the Water and Power Development Authority along with the federal government.

He informed lawmakers that the federal government has so far spent Rs. 94.67 billion on the project. According to the minister, the K-IV scheme will provide water supply to three major points in Karachi managed by WAPDA and the federal authorities.

Muhammad Mueen Wattoo stated that around 67.9 percent of the work has already been completed and expressed confidence that the remaining construction will be finished within the announced timeline.

The minister also said that, if required, a meeting involving stakeholders and relevant departments could be held in Karachi to review the project’s progress and strengthen accountability measures.
