Rawalpindi to Get First 100-Bed Cancer Treatment Tower

The Punjab government has approved a new 100-bed cancer treatment tower at Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi to provide specialized care to cancer patients from across the Rawalpindi Division.

Following the approval, relevant government departments have started work on preparing the PC-I document for the proposed project.

The development was discussed during a video-link meeting chaired by the Punjab health secretary on the directions of the provincial government. Officials from the Health Department, Communication and Works Department, and other departments concerned participated in the meeting.

Cancer Facilities Planned in Other Cities

Officials were informed that similar cancer treatment towers are also planned for government hospitals in Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur.

The projects are expected to include specialized medical facilities and dedicated staff. Specialist doctors and other healthcare workers will be appointed, while the necessary medical equipment will be arranged so that treatment services can start once the facilities become operational.

New Cancer Treatment Equipment at Holy Family Hospital

Meanwhile, a cryoablation machine has already been delivered to Holy Family Hospital and is currently being installed.

The equipment is intended for the treatment of certain breast, lung, liver, and kidney cancer cases. After installation and completion of its testing process, the hospital is expected to begin formal registration for patients requiring the relevant treatment.

The proposed cancer tower and new equipment are part of efforts to expand specialized cancer care services at public-sector hospitals in Punjab.
