Punjab Schools Reported to Be Violating Summer Camp Guidelines

Summer learning camps have started in both public and private schools across Punjab following the provincial government’s approval of limited academic activities during the summer vacation period.

However, concerns have emerged regarding compliance with official guidelines in some private schools. Parents and students have reported that attendance is being made compulsory in certain institutions, despite instructions stating that participation in summer camps should be voluntary and subject to parental consent.

Reports also suggest that some schools may be conducting classes and academic activities beyond the permitted morning hours of 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, as outlined by the School Education Department (SED).

Parents have expressed concern over the implementation of these practices, stating that deviations from official guidelines may create additional pressure on students during the vacation period.

According to the government’s instructions, summer camps are intended to include limited indoor educational activities. Schools are also required to ensure basic facilities such as clean drinking water, proper ventilation, and first aid arrangements. Students participating in these camps are exempt from wearing formal uniforms.

Education stakeholders have urged the relevant authorities to monitor school compliance and take action where violations of the prescribed guidelines are identified.
