Nepali Climber Found Alive After Six Days Missing on Mount Everest

A highly experienced Nepali mountaineering guide who had been missing on Mount Everest for six days has been found alive, in a remarkable survival story that has captured attention across the climbing community.

Dawa Sherpa, a veteran climber known for his extensive experience on the world’s highest peak, disappeared on the upper slopes of Mount Everest on May 30 during challenging weather conditions. Rescue teams had been searching for him after he failed to return, and concerns for his safety had grown over the past week.

According to officials involved in the search effort, Dawa Sherpa was discovered near Everest Base Camp after making his way down the mountain on his own. He was later airlifted to Kathmandu for medical treatment.

Doctors reported that he suffered from frostbite but was conscious and in stable condition. Medical teams continue to monitor his recovery.

Family members expressed relief and gratitude after learning he had been found alive. They said they had feared the worst after several days without any news of his whereabouts.

Fellow climbers described Dawa Sherpa as a respected and skilled mountaineer who has guided numerous expeditions on Everest over the years. Climbers familiar with the expedition said weather conditions near the summit had been particularly demanding this season, making rescue and descent operations more difficult.

The search was supported by local mountain safety teams and expedition operators working in the Everest region. Officials credited the coordinated efforts of rescue personnel and Dawa Sherpa’s experience and determination for the successful outcome.

This climbing season has been one of the busiest on record, with more than a thousand climbers reportedly reaching the summit of Mount Everest. Several accidents and weather-related incidents have also been reported during the season.

The remarkable survival of Dawa Sherpa has been welcomed by the mountaineering community and serves as a powerful example of resilience in one of the world’s most challenging environments.
