Islamabad Police to Add 1,934 New Positions to Strengthen Security Operations

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved the creation of 1,934 new positions in Islamabad Police for the financial year 2025-26, aiming to enhance law enforcement capacity and improve security arrangements across the federal capital.

According to an official notification, the newly approved positions will be distributed between the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and the Law and Order Division to support policing operations and public safety initiatives.

Positions Approved for Special Protection Unit

A total of 997 positions have been allocated to the Special Protection Unit, including:

  • 12 Inspectors (BS-16)
  • 15 Sub-Inspectors (BS-14)
  • 50 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (BS-11)
  • 100 Head Constables (BS-09)
  • 820 Constables (BS-07)

The additional workforce is expected to strengthen security coverage and operational readiness within the unit.

Law and Order Division to Receive 937 Positions

The government has also approved 937 positions for the Law and Order Division, including:

  • 12 Inspectors (BS-16)
  • 35 Sub-Inspectors (BS-14)
  • 50 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (BS-11)
  • 80 Head Constables (BS-09)
  • 760 Constables (BS-07)

Officials believe the expansion will help improve policing services, law enforcement effectiveness, and public safety measures in Islamabad.

Budget Allocated for New Recruitment

The notification states that the financial requirements for these positions will be met through the approved budget allocated to Islamabad Police for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The move reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the capital’s policing infrastructure and support the growing security needs of the city.
