Second Monsoon Rain Spell Expected Across Pakistan, Met Office Warns
July 6, 2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a second spell of monsoon rains across several parts of the country as moist air currents continue to enter Pakistan from both the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
According to the weather advisory, a westerly wave is also expected to approach the upper parts of the country within the next 12 hours, further intensifying weather activity in multiple regions.
Weather System Developing Over the Country
The Met Office stated that:
- Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are affecting northern areas
- Moisture from the Bay of Bengal is expected to enter northeastern regions
- A westerly weather system will interact with these conditions, increasing chances of rain and thunderstorms
A seasonal low-pressure system is also present over northwestern Balochistan, contributing to unstable weather conditions.

Kashmir
Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in several areas including:
Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Bagh, Kotli, Bhimber, and surrounding regions from July 6 (night) to July 8, with occasional heavy rainfall possible.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
Scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely in districts including:
Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat, Mardan, and surrounding areas between July 6 and July 8. Some areas may experience heavy rainfall during this period.
Punjab and Islamabad
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in:
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Multan, Bahawalpur, and other districts from July 6 evening/night to July 8. Isolated heavy downpours may occur in certain regions.
Gilgit-Baltistan
Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are forecast for:
Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Ghanche, and nearby areas on July 7 and July 8, with intermittent breaks in rainfall.
Balochistan
Isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern and northeastern districts including:
Zhob, Khuzdar, Sibbi, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, and surrounding areas on July 7 and July 8.
Sindh
Most parts of Sindh are expected to experience hot and humid conditions. However, isolated rain or thunderstorms may occur in:
Tharparkar, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and nearby areas on July 7 and July 8.
Advisory
Authorities have advised citizens in affected areas to remain cautious during heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, particularly in regions prone to flash flooding or strong winds. Emergency services and local administrations are expected to remain on alert during the forecast period.
