Astros Rally Late to Defeat Angels 6-4 After Four-Run Ninth Inning

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

The Houston Astros staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 on Monday night, scoring four runs in the ninth inning to complete the victory.

The win came after Houston erased an early four-run deficit, while the Angels were unable to hold onto their lead in the final inning.

Astros Complete Late Comeback

Trailing 4-2 entering the ninth inning, the Astros capitalized on a combination of walks, defensive errors, and timely hitting to score four runs.

LaMonte Wade Jr. drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the go-ahead run, giving Houston its first lead of the game. The Astros added another run later in the inning to secure the victory.

Early Advantage for the Angels

Los Angeles built a 4-0 lead through the first three innings.

The Angels opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly from Nolan Schanuel, while Vaughn Grissom contributed an RBI single as the home team took control early.

Houston Responds

The Astros began their comeback in the fourth inning when Taylor Trammell hit his second consecutive home run, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

In the eighth inning, Jeremy Peña extended his hitting streak to nine games with a leadoff double before Yordan Alvarez delivered an RBI single to bring Houston within two runs.

Decisive Ninth Inning

Houston’s rally gained momentum after Trammell reached base and later scored following a defensive error by the Angels.

The Astros tied the game when Isaac Paredes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, before Wade’s walk pushed the go-ahead run across the plate.

Houston added an insurance run after another fielding error by the Angels during the same inning.

Pitching Notes

Astros starter Tatsuya Imai exited in the first inning after allowing two early runs.

Houston’s bullpen kept the game within reach, giving the offense an opportunity to complete the comeback in the final inning.

The victory highlighted the Astros’ resilience as they overcame an early deficit to secure another win, while the Angels were left to reflect on missed opportunities after leading for most of the contest.
