Saudi Arabia Declares September 23 Public Holiday for National Day

Saudi Arabia has announced Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as a public holiday for employees in the private and non-profit sectors to mark the country’s 96th National Day.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development confirmed that the holiday will apply to workers covered under the relevant labour regulations. The date corresponds to 12 Rabi al-Thani 1448 AH in the Islamic calendar.

According to the ministry, the holiday decision has been issued in accordance with Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Labour Law. Employers have been advised to follow the provisions and procedures specified under the regulation.

Saudi National Day 2026

Saudi Arabia observes its National Day every year on September 23. The occasion commemorates the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz in 1932.

The annual holiday is marked with celebrations and events across the country, with government and private-sector employees covered by the applicable holiday rules receiving a day off.
