Asian Games 2026: Himanshu Dhillon Wins Silver, Rudrankksh Patil Takes Bronze

India enjoyed a strong day in shooting at the Asian Games 2026 as Himanshu Dhillon won the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, while compatriot Rudrankksh Patil claimed bronze.
The result came on Himanshu’s Asian Games debut and added to India’s medal tally in shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
Earlier on Monday, Himanshu and Rudrankksh had also joined Parth Mane to secure silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team competition at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery.
Sheng Lihao Wins Gold
China’s Olympic champion Sheng Lihao produced a score of 254.2 to take the gold medal and successfully defend his Asian Games title.
Himanshu finished with 252.4, while Rudrankksh recorded 230.9 before being eliminated from the final. Himanshu finished just 0.1 points ahead of his Indian teammate in a closely contested competition.
Rudrankksh started strongly and led after the first 14 shots with 148.2 points. Sheng was second with 147.7, while Himanshu followed closely at 147.4.
A 10.9 from Himanshu brought him within 0.1 points of Rudrankksh before Sheng moved into the lead after 16 shots.
After 20 shots, Sheng was ahead with 211.6 points. Rudrankksh had 210.6, while Himanshu was only 0.6 points further behind.
The contest changed after Rudrankksh recorded 9.7 on his 21st shot. Himanshu moved into second place, while Rudrankksh eventually exited the final just 0.1 points behind his teammate.
Himanshu attempted to close the gap on Sheng during the final shots, but the Chinese shooter maintained his advantage to secure gold.
India Also Wins Team Silver
Earlier in the day, Himanshu, Rudrankksh and Parth Mane combined for a team score of 1890.1 to finish second in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.
China claimed team gold with a world-record score of 1899.0, while the Republic of Korea took bronze with 1884.2.
Himanshu qualified seventh for the individual final with 630.0 points. Rudrankksh entered the final as the third-highest qualifier with 631.8, while Parth scored 628.3 to finish 11th and miss out on the individual final.
Breakthrough Year for Himanshu
The silver medal adds to a successful 2026 season for Himanshu, who won the junior men’s 10m air rifle Asian title in New Delhi earlier this year.
Rudrankksh also claimed the senior continental title at the same championships. He is a former world champion, having won the men’s 10m air rifle title at the 2022 World Championships in Cairo.
Rudrankksh was also part of India’s gold medal-winning team at the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games, alongside the same shooting group that set a world record at the time.
