Trump’s Board of Peace Reportedly Plans $2.45 Billion Gaza Recovery Programme
US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is expected to present a proposed $2.45 billion Gaza recovery programme at a meeting of its members on Wednesday, according to a report by Axios.
The proposed six-month programme includes 66 projects covering temporary housing, debris removal, hospital repairs, economic recovery and the possible deployment of a multinational security force, Axios reported, citing a copy of the plan.
The White House and the US State Department had not immediately responded to requests for comment.
Long-Term Reconstruction Plan
According to the report, the proposal estimates the physical damage in Gaza at approximately $35.2 billion. It also estimates that broader reconstruction and recovery could require around $71.4 billion over the next 10 years.
The reported plan includes several infrastructure projects, including repairs to border crossings and the restoration of electricity and water services.
It also proposes installing 25,000 portable solar power systems and permanently sealing tunnels located beneath areas identified for priority reconstruction work.
Funding Still Being Arranged
The report said the Board of Peace and the Palestinian government have not yet secured the full $2.45 billion required for the initial programme.
However, officials involved in the initiative reportedly expect donor countries to provide additional funding once outstanding political issues are resolved.
The Trump administration told Congress in July that it planned to provide more than $206 million for a proposed Gaza peacekeeping force, according to the report.
The recovery proposal comes amid continued efforts to advance a broader Gaza-related agreement. According to Axios, progress on the initiative has faced delays following disagreements over conditions required for the proposed arrangement to move forward.
