Balochistan Announces Public Holidays for 9th and 10th Muharram (Ashura)
The Government of Balochistan has announced a two-day public holiday across the province on the occasion of Ashura, observed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
According to an official notification, all provincial government offices, educational institutions, and autonomous bodies will remain closed on June 25 and 26.
The announcement has been made to facilitate religious observance of Ashura and to allow citizens to participate in processions and religious gatherings in a peaceful environment.
Nationwide Observance
The provincial decision aligns with the federal government’s earlier announcement of public holidays for Ashura across the country. The Cabinet Division had also issued a notification confirming nationwide closure of government offices on the same dates.
Security Arrangements
Authorities have also implemented special security measures during Muharram to ensure public safety. In the federal capital, restrictions such as a ban on pillion riding have been introduced for the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
In Balochistan, security has been strengthened along procession routes, with law enforcement agencies placed on high alert to maintain peace and order throughout the religious observances.
Purpose of the Holidays
The holidays are intended to respect the religious significance of Ashura and to ensure that related gatherings and processions can take place smoothly and safely across the province.
