Distrito Nacional Wins 2026 Robinson CanĂ³ Cup U-12 Baseball National Championship

Distrito Nacional has won the 2026 Robinson CanĂ³ Cup U-12 Baseball National Championship after defeating Valverde 6-3 in the final held at IPL Academy in the Dominican Republic.

The championship game featured the two unbeaten teams of the tournament, with Distrito Nacional securing the title through a consistent team performance. They took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, while Valverde managed to level the score in the third inning. Distrito Nacional later regained control of the match and added further runs in the closing innings to confirm the victory.

Valverde finished the tournament as runners-up, while Santo Domingo Province secured third place after defeating Bahoruco 12-7 in the playoff match. Santo Domingo Province had entered the competition as the defending champion.

The seven-team tournament was organized by the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) and took place over five days at IPL Academy, which also serves as a training base for national teams.

MVP and All-Star Selections

Ezequiel Rodriguez of Distrito Nacional was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament for his outstanding performance. He was also included in the 2026 All-Star Team.

The All-Star Team featured top performers from across participating teams, including players selected by position such as pitcher, catcher, infielders, and outfielders.

Development Pathway for Young Players

The tournament is part of the Dominican Republic’s structured development pathway for young baseball talent. It helps identify players for future national team programs and international competitions.

The competition also serves as preparation for upcoming regional qualifiers, including the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier scheduled for later this year.

Officials highlighted the importance of the event in supporting youth development and providing exposure to emerging baseball talent in the country.
